COLORBACK

Nadine Anglin, a.k.a. Colorback which is her CB handle,
has been coming to Slab City since 1956. At first with her
husband Erven, although most people knew him as Hadacall.
After he passed away in 2001, Nadine continued her annual
visit to the Slabs by herself. Her favorite spot is on what's
known as "Poverty Flats" where her good friend and neighbor
Jim Crunk (Fish Catcher) keeps an eye on her and makes sure
that she has air in her dune-buggy tires. Let's not forget
her bodyguard Squeaky, a well groomed Pomeranian, whose bark
can be heard from miles away.

In 1997 Nadine published a book titled "As I Remember" in
which she tells about the early days at Slab City including
some information about the surrounding area and Camp Dunlap
where it all began. The book was a huge success and prompted
her into writing a second book "In the Shadows of the Choco-
late Mountains" in 2003. Both books are available by mail.
Simply send $12.50 for each book ($10.00 donation to cover
the cost of printing and $2.50 S&H) to the address below.
Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery especially during the
summer months when her mail must be forwarded to her where-
ever she is camped at that time. I can guarantee you that it
is well worth the wait and that both books are a "must-have"
for anyone who is interested in Slab City. Her address is:
NADINE ANGLIN, P.O.BOX 585, NILAND CA.92257.
